Abstract

National Health Service Patients establish a trusting relationship with their GP, to whom they turn for health advice, as well as for consultations and medical
prescriptions. Cancer screening is a nationwide, free early diagnosis program promoted by the Ministry of Health, managed and organized in collaboration with your Region and the Healthcare Authorities in the area. Promoting adherence to screening programs for early diagnosis and treatment at the primary healthcare level can contribute to the likelihood of cure. In particular, the activation of screening programs for the early diagnosis of oncological diseases has led to a reduction in mortality rates by 20 to 40%. Thanks to early diagnosis, mortality has decreased by 20% to 35% for breast cancer, over 50% for cervical cancer, and more than 30% for colorectal cancer. Certain infectious diseases have the characteristic of being preventable, and one of the most effective and
safest public health interventions to achieve this goal is vaccination. Therefore, it is crucial that General Practitioners, in order to ensure the highest possible
vaccination coverage for the target population, collaborate with local vaccination centers (ASLs) to promote vaccinations. This will help improve
coverage rates and reduce the individual risk of illness, hospitalization, and death. Vaccinations include protection against influenza, pneumococcus, and
COVID-19, which are among the leading causes of pneumonia in the elderly and in vulnerable patients.
