Abstract
Background:
L’attacco ischemico transitorio (TIA) è un’emergenza neurologica che richiede una valutazione tempestiva per prevenire l’ictus. Sebbene I fattori di rischio vascolari come ipertensione e diabete siano ben noti, il ruolo dei disturbi endocrini—soprattutto l’ipotiroidismo—è spesso trascurato.
Caso clinico:
Un uomo di 75 anni con una lunga storia di ipotiroidismo ha presentato sintomi neurologici transitori. La neuroimmagine ha evidenziato alterazioni ischemiche croniche dei piccoli vasi, senza infarto acuto.
Conclusione:
L’ipotiroidismo mal controllato può contribuire all’insufficienza cerebrovascolare, specialmente attraverso la malattia dei piccoli vasi, e dovrebbe essere considerato nella valutazione del rischio di ictus.
