Abstract
La febbre (piressia) è una comune risposta fisiologica a infezioni e infiammazioni, regolata dalla segnalazione immunitaria dell'ospite e dai meccanismi termoregolatori ipotalamici.
Gli antipiretici convenzionali come paracetamolo, aspirina e FANS sono ampiamente utilizzati, ma l'uso a lungo termine è associato a effetti collaterali tra cui epatotossicità e complicazioni gastrointestinali.
Considerando le piante medicinali e i loro composti bioattivi che influenzano le vie febbrili e infiammatorie, come flavonoidi, alcaloidi, tannini e terpenoidi, queste hanno attirato l'attenzione a livello mondiale come farmaci antipiretici più sicuri e accessibili.
Questa revisione si propone di analizzare e riassumere le piante medicinali con attività farmacologica antipiretica.
